So fast forward to a few weeks ago. Jared had driven the car to track meets all over, 1 or 2 meets a week (by they way Jared is a track coach). Never having a problem with it. So I decide I'm going to take the kids to see their grandparents, by myself. So I leave town & get to Kemmerer, and the car starts shaking really funny. So I pull off to call Jared to see what I should do, but I can't get ahold of him because he was at a track meet. So I keep going, figuring I need to get as close to home as possible. Well the shaking was getting worse, so I pull off again, and climb under the car & look to see if something was broken by the tire. Nothing. So I get in the car, finally getting ahold of Jared. So we decide I just need to pay attention as to what to do, & he'll start making plans on how to get me home. So I get up on the highway again, & start to go and then I decide I better stay on the side of the road and only go about 10 mph. Then wham! The car came to an immediate stop! What the crap!! So I get out, and see that the tire is tipped & bent funny, and shoved up into the fender. So I get ahold of Jared, tell him I assume its the tie rod (you know being a girl, I would know, ha!)
So my dad is on his way to get me, and Jared's dad set up a tow truck to come get me. So as I'm waiting, Jared tells me look under the car & take a picture with my phone, so he can see what is broken. So I bend down to take a picture of what I assume is a broken tie rod.
So as I start looking, I see my wheel/tire is not even attached to the car anymore, so I scream that in the phone to Jared, he says "you did what!" It was quite funny now that I think about it, not at the time, but now, oh ya. Some how the lug nuts came loose, so the bolts completely snapped off. Anyway a bunch of men stopped & put the donut on, with 2 bolts from the other wheels, so that we could get it up on the tow truck. All of these men kept going, "what made you pull off, why were you going so slow, you are so lucky!"
Anyway, so I get the car towed, my parents pick me up and I stay the weekend in Lyman. I had to get home some how, so I borrowed my dads car, and came home for the week. Then the next weekend, we went back and Jared fixed the car. I'm happy to say, the wheel stayed on the whole trip! Wahoo!!
Okay so the gist of my whole long story is, what made me pull off the side of the road and go slow? Was it just good instincts or was it the spirit? I really would like to think that I am close enough to the spirit that, the Holy Ghost was telling me to pull off the road. So I've replayed the situation in my head a billion times. You often hear about people hearing direct instruction of what to do from the Holy Ghost, and I did not hear that. So I've been bothered by why didn't I hear anything. I mean we go to church, we pay our tithing, we say our prayers, we say family prayer, we hold family home evening, we try to read our scriptures. We try to do everything right, so I should have been close enough to the spirit to hear the instruction right?
Also, when we left as always when we travel, we say a prayer to make it safely, & have now started adding in that the car will work properly. After we "stopped" Tyler said, "but mom we said a prayer, why isn't Jesus helping us?" I didn't quite know how to answer that.
Then it hit me, I may of not heard a distinct voice & our prayer may not have been answered the way we wanted it too, but we were still being protected. If I had been going 65 mph down the highway & my wheel had fallen off then, we would have rolled. The outcome would not have been good. So even though I don't remember hearing anything, something made me pull off the side of the road. I just have to have faith that the Lord was protecting my family. Even as much as I would love to have that car wrecked so I don't have to deal with it anymore. (shhh don't tell my husband that). All in all it was a very good learning experience for us, first I need a new vehicle, second our prayers are always answered some how, maybe not in the way we want, & it was a great teaching experience for me to teach my children about the answers to our prayers.
So I don't know if any of this makes sense or not, but this is basically my journal, so I needed to have this documented.
